In June we will also be nominating and voting for our next four selections (one of the BDG coordinators will post soon with the exact dates those processes occur). So, start thinking about what fab works you'd like to nominate (or renominate) and digging up or writing a blurb about it. Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"; format=flowed Hello, all -- The upcoming discussion of *Woman on the Edge of Time* is the last on our current schedule. That means it's time to choose a new set of books for the following four months (July-October). Here's how it works... To be a valid nomination, each book should be: - feminist speculative fiction of some variety - in print in paperback (confirm with an off- or online bookstore) - not a previous BDG selection (see the list at the end of this email) From now until noon (EST) next Friday, send as many nominations as you see fit to FeministSF-Lit (the "on-topic" list, NOT the more general FeministSF), including "BDG Nomination" somewhere in your subject heading and providing the following information for each book: - author - title - publisher - list price - ISBN For example: Nalo Hopkinson: Brown Girl in the Ring. (July 1998). Warner Books; ISBN: 0446674338, List Price: $12.99 A brief (or lengthy!) explanation of why you would like to discuss the book is also helpful. During the nomination period, I will maintain a page on the BDG web site listing the current nominations at http://www.geocities.com/Area51/Comet/1304/bdg_nom_0205.htm . It will be updated at least once per day and finalized at noon next Friday. After that we will have one week to vote. Look for more information on the procedure as the time approaches. Bantam. List Price 15.95. ISBN 0-553-09522-6. 1993. "One of the great visionary utopian novels of the century" Marion Zimmer Bradley. A great follow up to Marge Piercy: magic allied to politics, but it's science fiction not fantasy, in the sense that the author seems to believe the magic is realistic (doesn't she? at least that's an interesting question I would like to know other people's opinions on).
