Katherine MacLean has been chosen as Author Emeritus by the
Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America. The award, inaugurated in
1995, has previously honored only one woman writer, Judith Merril in
1997.

Ursula K. Le Guin has been chosen as a Grand Master by the
Science Fiction Writers Association Board of Directors and past
presidents. Of the twenty Grand Masters, Le Guin is only the second woman
to be chosen, following Andre Norton in 1983.
